- "To my dear friends of WHS 1972: First, my hat goes off to the 'enablers', as I will call you guys and dolls (Jack, Joanie, Gerard, Muire, Guy, Chuck, Tommy) and any other committee member who helped coordinate such a special, once in a lifetime' event. The golf outing was genuinely a fun ice-breaker for many of us to reconnect with our friends from the past. That venue certainly helped to transition many of us into the 'Grand Event' on Saturday. "
"I've always been a romantic, and our 'Grand Event', thanks to you, was just that. Many of us had the opportunities to dig a little deeper into ourselves, reach out to our old friends, and communicate from our hearts, not just our lips."
"The winds of life that carry our souls blow way too fast, and these times must be recognized as the special moments that they truly are. I feel very fortunate to be part of such a special group of people. Thank you all for allowing me into your lives. I hope that we will have the opportunity to share more wonderful memories with each other.” Your friend,
Neil Goldberg
- "What a great time! Everyone loved the reunion, nice job -- the hard work paid off. Have a safe trip home and I wish you good health and happiness. Till we meet again. . .”
Tommy Devane
- "Hey gang, just want to thank Tommy Devane for organizing a great afternoon of golf. The whole weekend was a hoot. So good to see everyone! The reunion was "wicked pissa." I picked a bad weekend to lose my voice but it is coming back. We sure had some good yuks and lots of jolted memories. Wishing the best for you all. And special kudos to Lorraine.”
Jim Wilde
- "Hey Guys (and Lorraine too), Great to see all of you at the golf game. Really good time on and off the course and throughout the entire weekend. The long drive back to Jersey yesterday was perfect for reflecting and remembering - total over-stimulation but in a good way. Perhaps the two cigars on the course, the more-than-usual alcohol consumption, the belly laughs, and the memory re-wind had something to do with it. So good to see that most are happy and healthy and successful. Everyone was so nice and interested in each other with lots to share. To be away for so long, having really run away to move on and try to build a life, being so busy and then reconnecting like that was great. It helped bring things back to perspective and made me realize just how much and how meaningful that part of my life and time was and is. Thank you to all the organizers for making it happen. I'm so happy I came.” Be well,
Neil DeStefano
- "It was a great time with a lot of laughs. Special thanks to Tommy, Michael, and Neil for carrying my *&@ for 18, and Tommy thanks for the tip on 18. Like Neil, it was a long ride back to Virginia, but it was made easier by the great memories from the night before, even with the massive loss of brain cells. Great to see everyone and catch up on our lives. If ya'll are down in Virginia please stop in Manassas. The Welcome Mat is always out.” Cheers,
Rich Cloonan
- "It was a wonderful weekend, so many flash backs and great memories. Just thinking about all the conversations and reunions during the 10 hour trek back to southern Maryland made the trip go by faster. The diversity of life journeys of our class really is remarkable. A since "Well Done" or "Bravo Zulu" as they say in the Navy to all the organizers and planners. p.s. We look a whole lot better than the Newton High class of 1962!” Cheers,
Bobby Wilde
- "I didn't have that long journey home like Neil, the Wilde man, or Rich but on my 35 minute ride I reached the same conclusion. I ran into a few classmates before the event and when I asked if they were going they stated no because they see all the people they need to see, their loss! It was great to catch up with all of my old friends that I was hoping to see. We were very lucky to be part of a large, diverse class and share all those memories and now thanks to the efforts of Jack, Joanie, the other organizers and, of course, Tommy we have one more great memory. Thanks to all and I hope to see you in 40 more, or maybe 5!” Best,
Jimmy Barrile
- "Hello all, what a great weekend. It was another reminder of how lucky we were to grow up in Waltham. I had forgotten what a great drinking class we were. I've been pretty disconnected the last 40 years so I was excited to see you all. I hope to have more opportunities to get together again. Special thanks to all who did the grunt work that made it all possible. It's remarkable that so much time can pass yet friendships and memories remain so strong.”
Kevin Mulvanney
- "Hi All: Tremendous job by the planning committee and of course, Tommy's efforts for the golf outing. Thank you all very much! It was indeed a lot of fun seeing the many people we grew up with. Being from Warrendale, many of us have had the pleasure of knowing each other for 52 years! We are all very fortunate to be part of a terrific group and to share timeless memories. Keep well!” Very best regards,
Jay Visco
- "I just wanted to thank you all for a great and memorable time Saturday evening. It's one that I'll remember for a long time…..as long as the brain cells hold out! We all had a blast…it was great reconnecting with everyone….Thanks again….to everyone on the committee.”
Tom Hapenney
- "You guys all look OLD! Only Lorraine looks good and I did get carded at Gordon's!!! Thanks for such a great time and it was priceless to be able to share some time with old friends. I ate at the Chateau 13 times, so I'm good for now. BTW, someone told me to go to Carl's sub shop on Prospect St. I got an Italian sub and it looks and tastes just like the one at the old Corrado's on Main St. Lastly, we should have an annual outing for us WHS hackers. Let me know if anyone has any interest.” All the best,
Kevin Kelley
- Thanks everyone for your hard work.. We all had a blast at the reunion! Just wish there was more time to connect with everyone. However, it seems that many of us are still feeling the energy from this event and we're rekindling old friendships which is amazing! There is nothing like rehashing stories from back-in-the-day!! We certainly were a wild bunch!
Linda Ravalli
- "Thanks to all of the party planners! We had a great time and so glad we went! Bobby is not on FB, but he echoes my sentiments! We had and HAVE a great class!”
Pat (Vanaria) Withrow

people from my past that conjured up so many memories... Awesome... Kudos to the people on the committee.

- "I saw all of my classmates and everybody looked so good. I'm just sad that I didn't get to say hello to everyone. Time just flew by. Hope they know that I love them all and have good memories of all of them.”
Paulette (Gauvin) Naurath
- Thanks to everyone who planned a great evening. Fun seeing everyone.
Joyce (Joyal) Correia
- II had some really touching moments with more than a few people. . . The food was awesome, the appetizer stations were great - loved the whole set-up. Thanks also for the poster of the people who have died - there must have been forty. I was shocked...A toast to all of them.
Bev (Boisseau) Stohl
- I just wish we went on a destination reunion and we could have stayed a week!!! Then we would have gotten to see everybody! I had a great time!
Myra (Tanner) Halstead
- We asked you to trust us when you sent the $72 for your reunion ticket. Friendship is what brought us together so many years ago. Friendship brought us together for a memorable event 40 years later. The following quote spoke to me….With warmest regards,
Muire Flynn (WHS Party Planner)
"The glory of friendship is not in the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is in the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
- WOW!! What a great time last night. It was wonderful seeing classmates who I haven't seen in too many years. . . Thanks to all for the great memories. If you're in New Hampshire and find yourselves in our neck of the wood, please look us up!
Steve and Paula Moore
- "Had a blast at the Reunion. . . . not enough time to see everyone, missed a few but will see them the next time.........we have a nice group of grads from 1972!”
Pattie Caisey
- "I wanted to pass along the thanks from myself and all of the attendees who spoke with me last night. Everyone had a great time and are posting pics already! I have a personal reason too. About a dozen of my classmates from Whittemore came. We met in Kindergarten and went through 7th grade there, so we literally grew up together and have a strong bond. We were all thrilled to see each other and that was very special. They all send a special thanks.”
Guy Novello
- "It was a blast and a great experience working with Jack and Joanie as well as all of the committee members. Over the past month everyone I have come in contact with has had nothing but rave reviews. Hope we can keep the momentum going. Job well done!!!!” Thanks again,
Frank Everett
- "Thumbs way up to all of our creative Party-Planners (!) and to every one of our fabulous 40th Reunion-attendees! It was a pleasure spending time. . . revisiting old memories and making new ones. I look forward to keeping the convos going with impromptu, more-frequent, and less formal reunions -- not only in New England but across the map. . . Many thanks for the collective enthusiasm and energy; this experience has been a blast! Best wishes and all blessings in this season of Thanksgiving.” Carpe diem,
Joanie (Saltzberg) Virgil, 40th Reunion co-Chair, WHS, 1972 / 2012
- "We can all take pride in our ‘Grand Event.' Everyone had a hand in making this successful. When we asked for your input, via a survey, you told us what you wanted. When we asked you to buy tickets in advance, you did. When we set the Date and Time and chose the Venue, you all showed up. None of that would have been possible without our combined efforts. Thanks to all of you who have emailed notes indicating how much you enjoyed the event.. . .
I did too!”
Jack Napoli, 40th Reunion CEO- WHS, 1972 / 2012

Thank you to Jackie and Joanie, I don't know, but I saw your names the most, so thank you, and everyone else for your time and effort putting the reunion event together. There were so many people that I have literally not seen or talked to in forty years, in fact, just about everyone. I was a little overwhelmed and trying to say hi to as many people as I could... quantity not quality. My apologies. I look forward to a smaller gathering and reconnecting on a more intimate level. Everyone looked great, and the energy level was enlivening! Keep me posted.

Our reunion was more fun than I even imagined it would be....can't even begin to thank the wonderful people who worked tirelessly to make the whole week-end so special! Just think...we used to have a Prom King and Queen and now we have a Reunion King and Queen....Joanie and Jackie were absolutely amazing at creating memories for all of us that will last a lifetime! We would be crazy not to plan something informal each Fall....we have all been so lucky to play important parts in each other's lives and we need to spend time together to celebrate these friendships. The night passed too quickly....we all still have more to say!!! Let's make a date for everyone to save for next Fall.....that way we all have plenty of time to buy new Spanks, sign up for Botox, get a tummy tuck and re-up our Weight Watcher's memberships! We are all so lucky in so many ways. Thank you, my friends,
Kathy Loughlin
